At Giles Junior School we encourage your children’s natural curiosity to explore the world around them. The National Curriculum focuses on the scientific skills that the children develop over their time at school and promotes the linking of science to other curriculum subjects. The children are provided with opportunities to undertake scientific enquiry through research, classifying and identifying, observing over time, pattern seeking and fair testing methods. They use their prior scientific knowledge and skills to hypothesise and predict outcomes and to interpret and discuss their findings.
The units taught in each year group may be found in the Curriculum Overviews.
We are lucky enough to have a teacher dedicated to teaching PE across the school. The carefully planned curriculum enables skills progression which develops both the children’s ability and confidence.
We encourage all pupils to take part in physical activity and hold sporting clubs every day of the week. We have been recognised for our sporting curriculum, winning ‘School of the Year 2016’ at the Comet 2016 Sports Awards.
