Welcome to Year 3 at Giles Junior School!
In year 3, our dedicated, enthusiastic and hard-working team is formed as follows:
|Wales||Mrs Jones||Mrs Slade|
|Italy||Miss Russell||Mrs Edwards|
|Sweden||Mrs Brookshaw/ Miss Conroy||Mrs Lamacraft|
We believe that a positive and smooth transition is essential for the new pupils who join us at Giles Junior School. As a result of this, we have a detailed transition programme for the children in the Summer Term of Year 2.
As the 7 Habits play such an important role at Giles Junior, a lot of time during the first half term is dedicated to understanding and implementing the 7 Habits. Within this time, we teach the children the fundamental principles of the 7 Habits and encourage children to take on a proactive attitude towards their learning. During this first term we notice a huge change in your children as they grow into mature, independent learners.
In Year 3, we work hard to make lessons engaging and exciting for your child. We cover many exciting topics throughout the year including ‘The Ancient Egyptians’ and ‘The Savage Stone Age’. We cover all subjects of the National Curriculum, including PE twice a week.
Reading is a key focus within our school and we encourage children to grow to love this life skill! We expect all children to read at least 5 times a week and ask that their reading record is signed by an adult.
Please ensure that your child always has their PE kit in school and appropriate clothing and footwear for all weather.
Thank you for your support and please do not hesitate to contact any member of staff if you have any worries or concerns.
