Bayfordbury Observatory

At Giles Junior, it's not only our children who we beleive in developing their scientific knowledge through carefully planned exciting Science opportunities, but also our staff. In Science, our staff are supported in regular CPD (continual professional development) across a variety of areas relating to teaching pedagogy to further support the development of our Sceince curriculum. However, it is not often that we are able to go in to the field for training opportunities as our year 5 team did on Friday.

On Friday, our year 5 team were able to visit the Bayfordbury Observatory where they were able to engage and discuss a range of teaching strategies with Scientists in the field, further develop links within the community as well as explore the sites observatories. We are looking forward to see how the year 5 team incorporate this training in to future lessons of their Earth and Space unit for our children.
