Silverstone Interactive Museum Trip

Today, Year 5 embarked on a trip to Silverstone to finish off their Science topic ‘Forces’ which they have been studying. 

Our young Scientists had an excellent time at Silverstone's Interactive Museum where they learned about motor racing through the underpinning of STEM (science, technology, engineering & maths) and how this has evolved Formula 1 to become the pioneer of motor racing it is today. 

 The museum was full of fascinating artefacts from the Formula 1 archives that provided the children with a vast range of interactive experiences for them to explore the Science behind how different parts of Formula 1 cars work. They also took part in a STEM workshop that gave the children a deeper understanding of the properties of materials that are used in constructing Formula 1 cars and how the aerodynamics in Formula 1 is centred on the production of downforce and  were able to participate in time trials on the Scaletrix Silverstone track before taking to the actual race track itself and have (running) races on the world renowned race track that is Silverstone!
